Prison Based Family Support Worker

  • 18.75 hours per week
  • £24,102 per annum (pro rata) 
  • Fixed Term Contract until end of June 2019, with possibility of extension

Nepacs is a regional charity which supports positive futures for prisoners and their families.

We are seeking to recruit a Family Support Worker (18.75 hours) who will provide a responsive casework based service at HMP Durham. As well as working to resolve barriers to family contact on an individual basis (where appropriate) the workers will liaise with Nepacs and prison colleagues to promote family ties through a number of activities, such as special family visits, and work towards a continuation of support as prisoners progress to other establishments.

All applicants will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; experience of working with families and disadvantaged groups in a multi agency environment; a relevant qualification in social care or equivalent and a passion for making a difference.

This contract is fixed term (funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund) and is subject to Prison Service vetting, DBS checks and pre employment checks.
