David Abrahams, born and educated in the north east, is a successful entrepreneur specialising in regional development. He is also a political campaigner on many local issues, defining interests of the people and civic institutions of the region. He was the director of Campaign against Pensioner Poverty for 12 years.
David is a former Tyne and Wear County Councillor and Parliamentary candidate, and a long serving member on Labours regional executive. He is also currently the Vice President of the Royal United Services Institute in Whitehall (London), specialising in middle east strategy and a Freeman of the City of London.
Throughout his career David has served on many voluntary and charitable bodies, including Nepacs, which he became involved with in the 1970s when he served as honorary Secretary from 1974 to 1980.
