Trish McDonald (Company Secretary)

Nepacs has been a significant part of Trish’s life – she attended the inaugural meeting of the modern Nepacs, about 30 years ago, and began volunteering in the little kitchen room of 19 Old Elvet (the old visitors’ centre in Durham).  As a trustee she is company secretary and takes a lead role in the  Nepacs grants committee.

A trained teacher, Trish disliked what she calls ‘normal’ teaching but found prison teaching totally absorbing and rewarding, despite the fact that the buzz often came when all the students had left and there had been no incidents.  Trish worked in HMP Durham and HMP YOI Low Newton with young offenders, before finally, after the re roll of Low Newton, working with women offenders.

In her spare time Trish enjoys spending time with her grand children, growing lilies and making a beautiful garden, romantic music – especially Elgar – poetry and playing the piano.
