NEPACS provides a range of volunteering opportunities at prisons
throughout the North East, which can provide a valuable basis for people of any
age wishing to go on into work within the prison system or childcare, and are
equally suited to retired people or part time workers. In addition to specific
training for each project. an annual training day on a specific theme is arranged
by NEPACS, and some prisons arrange tours and allow volunteers to attend their
special internal training sessions on aspects of prison life. Hours are flexible
and commitment can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Travel expenses are paid.
Minimum age: 18.
